Takenoya Ryokan - Izumo

Beautiful ryokan, friendly staff, great breakfast, close to Izumo Shrine.

No local map, limited English, no food preference asked.

This place has the best location, right next to the famous shrine. I could easily visit it during the serene early morning hours, immersing myself in the true culture before the crowds arrived. The service at this hotel was exceptional, from the friendly staff to the delicious breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised to see my name on the shoe rack, a small but thoughtful gesture that made me feel truly welcomed.

I highly recommend this hotel to my friends. The location is perfect, and the service and amenities provided here are top-notch.

Can't deny that the location was great - just a stone's throw away from one of the most famous shrines in the area. Plus, the room was beautiful and had a nice traditional vibe. Oh, and the breakfast was delicious!

The staff wasn't very accommodating when it came to requests. We were traveling with a young child, and they were quite unwilling to provide a simple meal for him.

The hotel was conveniently located near a major shrine which was perfect for us as we wanted to participate in the new year rituals. the traditional architecture of the building was beautiful and added to the ambiance of the experience. We also appreciated the fact that the hotel included dinner and breakfast with the room, saving us the hassle of finding a place to eat in a quiet and deserted area during the holidays.

The staff did not speak fluent English which made communication a bit difficult and led to some misunderstandings. we were disappointed that the hotel did not provide a map of the area or any recommendations for things to do or places to eat outside of the hotel.

We are located in the heart of the city, just a stone's throw away from a must-visit cultural attraction. the convenient location allows easy access to local restaurants for a perfect introduction to the local cuisine. the beautiful wooden structures and architecture create an authentic stay reminiscent of traditional Japanese accommodation.

There might be some improvements needed in terms of the bedding as some guests felt it was too thin, leading to a less comfortable sleep.
